Often software developers are encountered with the challenge of developing compressed setup files for mobile devices. Most mobile devices have limited memory and they also need to download program files via wireless link quite often that have the constraint of a limited bandwidth. Under such a situation the sheer size of the installer file becomes a large factor in the convenience value of software, the need for compressed setup files is necessitated. Now if you are experiencing such issues, then it’s prudent for you to take a closer look at PocketPC Installer. It virtually takes care of the issue of setup file size and makes it easy for your programs to run on mobile devices.
The software launches with a neat interface that is a pleasure to work with. To begin with you can start adding all the cab files you need in the editor list area. You can also go on to add image bitmaps as background. Also the drag and drop feature is a convenient way of speeding up things. Next in line is the output you desire. Interestingly it gives out output setup files in two types, one that is compressed for portable devices and another for regular desktop usage. So in one go, you have two kinds of setup files for your convenience. Not only that you can specific file action options. The controls are neatly placed and take care of nearly every possible functionality expected out of it. On the downside the software has limited default options under the action tab. A little thought could have made life much easier for many programmers.
The PocketPC installer does a fairly decent job in reducing the file sizes on acceptable limits. Though the scope for improvement is always there, many professional developers will still vouch for it as a tool that worth each dime of its value.
It`s incredibly easy to use (its like using WinZip), and it produces small, fast PDA installer exe files which we can put on a memory card.
It`s saved us many hours of programming time. Highly recommended !
